Drouin woman dies in crash in Gordon

Major Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash in Gordon this afternoon.

Emergency services were called after a car travelling on the Western Highway, near the Chapman overpass, hit a car stopped in the right-hand running lane of the road about 3.10pm.

The driver of the stopped car, a 53-year-old Drouin woman, unfortunately died at the scene.

A passenger in the stopped car, a 70-year-old Drouin man, was out of the vehicle when the crash occurred and was uninjured.

The driver of the second car, a 20-year-old Ballarat woman, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The exact circumstances of the crash are unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
