Drug And Weapons Charges, Kallangur

Police from the Moreton District Tactical Crime Squad have arrested two men and seized a firearm during patrols of Kallangur last week.

At approximately 10.35pm on Sunday 31 May, officers observed a man filling up a black GWM station wagon allegedly bearing false plates at a service station on Ferrier Street.

The man and his male passenger were taken into custody at the scene.

A subsequent search of the vehicle located a shortened rifle and multiple rounds of ammunition, along with a quantity of drugs.

The vehicle was not reported stolen.

A 31-year-old Lawnton man was charged with two counts of possessing drugs and one count each of unlawful possession of weapons, authority required to possess explosives, possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence, offence to buy or possess S4 or S8 medicines or hazardous poisons, driving a motor vehicle without a licence and possess things that purport to be but are not registration certificates, number plates or permits.

A 30-year-old Eagleby man was also charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, and one count each of possessing counterfeit money, receiving tainted property, possess utensils or pipes that has been used, tail to take reasonable car and precautions in respect of a syringe or needs, and obstruct police.

They are both due to face Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on 15 June.
