Drugs Seized Outside Riverland Prison

A man has been arrested after methamphetamine was allegedly located in his vehicle at a Cadell correctional facility yesterday.

Police attended the Cadell Training Centre about 3pm on Sunday 5 July and intercepted a Subaru sedan in the facility car park.

A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered approximately 50 grams of methamphetamine and glass pipes.

The driver, a 40-year-old Spalding man, was arrested.

Following his arrest, police searched his home address where they allegedly located a loaded .22 calibre rifle, ammunition and a further quantity of drugs and paraphernalia.

The man was charged with multiple courts of trafficking in a commercial quantity of a controlled drug, possessing a firearm without a licence, possessing an unregistered firearm and possessing ammunition without a licence. He did not apply for bail and is expected to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court on Monday 6 July.
