The City of Wagga Wagga is an excellent place to live and work and continues to grow and thrive, according to Wagga Wagga City Council's 2025 Economic Snapshot.
Published at the end of 2025, the Economic Snapshot is developed every one to two years and is used to promote Wagga Wagga to businesses looking to establish themselves in the region and to track the city's growth.
Wagga Wagga's Gross Regional Product (GRP) for 2025 was $5.64 billion, up from $4.84 billion when the last Economic Snapshot was produced in 2023.
The largest contributors to productivity being public administration and safety, health care, education, retail and manufacturing.
The city has a labour force of over 39,000 people, an increase of one thousand from 2023, with health services, education, construction, public administration and defence the top five employment industries.
Wagga Wagga also continues to attract visitors from all over the country for reasons such as events, medical treatment, sports, day trips, business and holidays, with the overnight visitor spend in 2025 at $350 million.
Council Economic Development Officer Sue Hanrahan said "in addition to economic growth, significant investments from Council, and the State and Federal Governments are progressing the city's output and liveability.
"Key projects in the Local Government Area (LGA) include the Tolland Renewal Project, UNSW Rural, Biomedical Science Centre, Wagga Health & Knowledge Precinct, Active Travel Network, Lake Albert Pipeline and Precinct Renewal, Plumpton Road Upgrade, Southern Growth Area and Northern Growth Area.
"However, the most exciting new investments that are strengthening Wagga Wagga's positioning in national and global markets are the Special Activation Precinct (SAP) and the Riverina Intermodal Freight & Logistics Hub (RIFL Hub)."
Located on the outskirts of Wagga Wagga in Bomen, the SAP has been established as an industrial estate aiming to attract companies from around the country and internationally.
RiFL Hub is located within the SAP and is a government backed initiative. It is turning the region into a thriving industrial hub, supporting industries such as manufacturing and agribusiness.
The RIFL Hub, which is adjacent to SAP, is the logistical connection from Wagga Wagga to the rest of Australia.
