An elderly male has been seriously assaulted in Sydney's inner west.
About 1pm today (Wednesday 23 April 2025) emergency services responded to reports of an assault outside a polling booth on Liverpool Road, Ashfield.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man – believed to be in his 80's - at the location. He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious condition.
Officers from Burwood Police Area Command arrested a 17-year-old boy at the scene. The teenager has been taken to Burwood Police Station where he is assisting with inquiries.
A crime scene has been established at the scene which will be examined by specialist police.
