Eltham Library to close for refurbishments

The Eltham Library and the Eltham Library Community Gallery will close for four weeks from Monday 5 June to undergo a minor refurbishment.

Yarra Plenty Regional Library is undertaking the works which will include:

  • An update to the floorplan to create an expanded young person's area
  • Consolidation of the staff service desks into a single service point
  • Sections of the library will be painted
  • More book shelving, particularly in the junior and young adult areas
  • An increase in the number of powered study booths in the quiet study area in the mezzanine from five to sixteen.
  • More power and charging outlets in study booths and reading seats.

Due to the refurbishment, the Eltham Library Community Gallery will also be closed, and the exhibition Flight by Nina Kelabora postponed until 2024.

The way of Japanese Ink by Junko Azukawa will be on display from Thursday 13 July.

Thanks to the community members who provided feedback on the proposed designs in November.

The Eltham Library will reopen on 3 July. Customers can use the Diamond Valley Library in Greensborough during this time. The Hurstbridge Community Hub also has a click and collect service.
