Sophia Antipolis, 17 June 2025: The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) marks 75 years of advancing cardiovascular medicine and improving heart health worldwide - a milestone that will be celebrated at ESC Congress 2025, taking place in Madrid from 29 August to 1 September.

Held in collaboration with the World Congress of Cardiology, this year's event will shine a Spotlight on Global Health under the visionary theme: "Cardiology Beyond Borders." The congress will explore the growing global burden of cardiovascular disease and its critical intersections with climate change, digital innovation, health equity, and access to care.

"Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death across the globe, responsible for millions lives lost annually, with great disparities between middle- and high-income nations", said the Chair of the ESC Communications Committee, Professor Felix Mahfoud. "For journalists following global health, this is a key moment to witness how cardiovascular medicine is advancing - not only in science and technology, but in its commitment to patients."
