Around 200 AI enthusiasts - from SMEs, healthcare providers, academia, decision-makers, and service providers for AI development - gathered last week at KI to discuss different aspects of implementing AI in healthcare.

EU initiatives accelerating AI implementation
The event - Deploying Trustworthy AI in Healthcare - aimed at lowering barriers to AI implementation in clinical settings and was hosted by TEF-Health together with Health Data Sweden , two European Union funded initiatives designed to help SMEs and other innovators. The Swedish TEF-Health node is led by Karolinska Institutet (KI) together with RISE. KI is represented by the Centre for AI Innovation, SciLifeLab and Centre for Imaging Research.
Representatives from TEF-Health came to KI from Finland, France, Germany, Slovakia, and Sweden, to present their solutions to aiding AI implementation in health care. These solutions includes
- Access to quality health data,
- Testing facilities in real-world environments, and
- Expert consulting - clinical as well as regulatory

The event highlighted how collaborative efforts between SMEs, academia and healthcare providers are key to turning AI potential into impact for patients. By sharing experiences, challenges, and success stories, the event showed how initiatives like TEF-Health and Health Data Sweden help to bridge the gap between innovation and implementation, ensuring that AI solutions are not only technically robust but also trusted and relevant for patients and clinicians across Europe.
