Exhibition acknowledges RPH's role caring for Bali bombing victims

  • Remembering the Bali Bombings 20 Years On exhibition opens tomorrow at the WA Museum Boola Bardip
  • Opening coincides with the 20th anniversary of the 2002 Bali bombings
  • Royal Perth Hospital cared for 31 patients from the bombings
  • Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson today officially opened Royal Perth Hospital's Remembering the Bali Bombings 20 Years On exhibition at the WA Museum Boola Bardip.

    Many of the injured were airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital, with 31 patients treated at the tertiary hospital.

    The exhibition features 28 images of Bali bombing victims, cared for at Royal Perth Hospital.

    Visitors will also be able to experience multimedia elements, including interviews with patients and medical staff.

    Remembering the Bali Bombings 20 Years On will be held at the Old Gaol, within the WA Museum Boola Bardip, until early February 2023.

    As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:

    "Royal Perth Hospital played a key role in caring for people injured in the Bali bombings.

    "Western Australia's close proximity to Bali meant many of the injured were airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital.

    "This exhibition highlights the extraordinary efforts of healthcare staff who cared for the survivors of the bombings.

    "It also shows the countless individuals - doctors, nurses, allied health staff, patient care assistants - involved in the rescue operation to give survivors the very best chance of recovery."
