Extended Hours at Select DTMI Service Centers

  • Selected DTMI service centres offer new extended trading hours
  • From 1 July, Cannington, City West, Mirrabooka and Success service centres open from 7:15am to 5pm weekdays
  • Cook Labor Government making it easier for Western Australians to access services following strong community support for successful trial

Western Australians accessing licencing and vehicle services will have greater convenience and flexibility with the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI) rolling out new opening hours at four metropolitan service centres from 1 July 2026.

Cannington, City West, Mirrabooka and Success service centres will open from 7.15am until 5pm weekdays, giving customers more flexibility to visit a centre before or after school or work.

DTMI has implemented the new weekday trading hours after strong community support for the 9-week extended trading hours trial last year, with an additional 11,500 customers served at Cannington, City West and Mirrabooka during the extended trading period.

The trial results showed a 36 per cent reduction in average weekday wait times with around 76 per cent of customers rating the extended hours positively, scoring them between 7 and 10 out of 10.

The sentiment was positive in that customers had more flexibility and didn't need to take time off work or school to attend a centre.

In addition to the trial locations, the Success service centre will also adopt longer weekday trading hours to provide increased customer access to DTMI services in the southern suburbs.

All other DTMI metro service centres will open between 8.15am and 4.30pm weekdays.

As stated by Minister Assisting the Transport Minister Jessica Stojkovski:

"The Cook Labor Government is making it easier for Western Australians to access the services they need, with extended opening hours providing greater flexibility for people balancing work, family and other commitments.

"Listening to customer feedback and building on the success of last year's trial Cannington, City West, Mirrabooka and Success service centres will offer all Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure services from 7.15am to 5pm.

"The Cook Labor Government is also currently exploring options to deliver our election commitment of a new DTMI service centre in the Armadale/Byford area that will provide all DTMI services.

"That's an extra hour and a half, Monday to Friday for our customers who need to visit a participating centre for transactions that require face-to face assistance."
