The Puckapunyal Military Area recently welcomed more than 1000 secondary school students who attended the Defence Work Experience Program's Army Careers Day.
The annual event gave year 10 to 12 students from 40 Victorian schools a unique opportunity to engage with military personnel, view Army capability and explore pathways into the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
Students interacted with some of Defence's most advanced vehicles and equipment, including the new Boxer combat reconnaissance vehicle, uncrewed aerial systems, the M1A2 Abrams main battle tank and a range of other military weapons and vehicles.
Attendees also watched demonstrations of Army physical training activities and engaged directly with the ADF Careers team members who provided advice on career pathways.
Several Army training establishments and units took part in the day, including the Schools of Armour, Artillery and Transport, as well as the Joint Logistics Unit, the Defence Force School of Signals, 4th Brigade and 22nd Engineer Regiment. The Australian Army Band added to the atmosphere by performing throughout the day.

Director of Youth Policy and Programs David Atkins said the Army Careers Day is an annual highlight for his team.
"It is always rewarding for our staff to see students get up close to Defence capability that many of them, particularly those from regional areas, may never have had the opportunity to experience firsthand," Mr Atkins said.
"The ADF offers a diverse range of career opportunities. Days like today aim to give students the chance to learn about ADF careers and culture, speak directly with serving personnel and see the equipment they use on a day-to-day basis.
"These experiences are invaluable in supporting informed decision-making, helping students gain a better understanding of the pathways available to them and what a career in Defence could look like."
The positive engagement between students and Defence personnel, along with the enthusiasm displayed throughout the day, highlighted the continued success of the annual event in inspiring the next generation.
The Defence Work Experience Program, in collaboration with Defence groups and services, designs and delivers a range of programs and activities that provide opportunities for Australia's youth to engage with Defence.
Programs run nationally throughout each year, providing hands-on and interactive experiences in both ADF and Australian Public Service environments designed to empower school-aged students to make informed career decisions.
