Six people have been rescued after becoming stranded by floodwaters at a public campground in Leyburn this morning, 26 October.
Around 7.45am emergency services received reports the campers, three men aged 71,47 and 26 and two women aged 68 and another woman aged 26 had become trapped inside the grounds on Tullamaville Road due to rising flood water.
The Queensland Fire and Rescue Swiftwater crews responded to the incident, with all six people subsequently rescued without incident around 11.15am.
There were no reports of physical injuries.
With wet weather continuing to impact parts of the region, police are reminding the community to take extra care and avoid unnecessary risks around floodwaters.
Motorists are urged to remember: If it's flooded, forget it. Never drive through floodwater, as conditions can change quickly and the depth and current may be difficult to judge.
Stay informed about weather conditions, follow road closure signs and never enter floodwater on foot or in a vehicle.
