A further 1,800 new homes will be unlocked on the Fraser Coast with construction of three critical infrastructure projects set to be fast-tracked under the Crisafulli Government's landmark $2 billion Residential Activation Fund.

The Crisafulli Government has today announced funding of $52.1 million under the Residential Activation Fund will support construction of three projects in Maryborough which will unlock 1,816 new homes.

The Fund will deliver a $33.9 million boost towards the $38 million Beachside at Dundowran Beach Trunk Infrastructure Works project which includes a major intersection upgrade to Pialba-Burrum Heads Rd, Dundowran Rd, and Ansons Rd to a dual lane roundabout, including new sewer and water mains

It will also deliver a $17.8 million boost towards a $81.6 million residential subdivision in St Helens for new roads, trunk stormwater and sewer infrastructure, – and a $375,000 boost towards a $3.7 million residential subdivision in Tinana supporting the delivery of new roads, stormwater drainage and a new transformer bringing power to the development.

It comes just months after the Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie visited Maryborough where he announced $8.6 million of Residential Activation Fund would fast-track two critical projects which will unlock 440 homes for the Fraser Coast.

Housing lot approvals slumped by 29 per cent under the former Labor Government, leading to record-low rental vacancy rates and a skyrocketing social housing waitlist.

The $2 billion Residential Activation Fund has received 178 submissions – 64 from South East Queensland and 114 from regional, rural and remote Queensland.

The Crisafulli Government's 2025-26 Budget is delivering up to $1 billion for round one of the Residential Activation Fund, doubled from the original $500 million, in response to the overwhelming support and availability of shovel-ready projects.

Round one funding focuses on the construction of critical trunk infrastructure needed such as water supply, sewerage, stormwater, and roads needed to unlock new residential developments and ease Labor's Housing Crisis.

The $2 billion Residential Activation Fund is a key pillar of the Crisafulli Government's Securing Our Housing Foundations Plan and is breaking down the barriers for infill and greenfield developments.

The Fund will deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders and support one million new homes by 2044 with at least 50 per cent of the overall funding to be invested in regional and remote Queensland.

Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie, said the Residential Activation Fund was set to unlock thousands of new homes across Queensland.

"The Crisafulli Government's landmark $2 billion Residential Activation Fund is delivering for Maryborough with a $52 million investment in three critical infrastructure projects, unlocking more than 1,800 new homes," Deputy Premier Bleijie said.

"This investment will help ease Labor's Housing Crisis after a decade of decline and give more Queenslanders a place to call home.

"The Residential Activation Fund will unlock much-needed housing in the booming city of Maryborough, where the Crisafulli Government has been investing in job creation projects.

"The Residential Activation Fund is just one way the Crisafulli Government is creating jobs, unlocking housing and ensuring that Queensland continues to manage population growth, address housing affordability and protect the lifestyle of local communities."

Minister for Housing and Public Works Sam O'Connor said the Crisafulli Government was listening to regional communities after a decade of decline under the former Labor Government.

"After 10 years of decline under Labor, regional communities like Maryborough are finally seeing the investment needed to deliver the homes they deserve," Minister O'Connor said.

"In just 10 months, the Crisafulli Government is backing projects that unlock land and fast-track new housing – part of our plan to deliver one million homes by 2044, with half of the Residential Activation Fund dedicated to the regions."

Member for Maryborough John Barounis said the Crisafulli Government's Residential Activation Fund was unlocking much-needed housing in Maryborough.

"The Crisafulli Government's Residential Activation Fund is giving more Queenslanders a place to call home after a decade of decline under the former Labor Government," Mr Barounis said.

"This $52 million investment will unlock a further 1,800 new homes in the Maryborough electorate just months after the Crisafulli Government's announced $8.6 million of RAF funding would unlock 440 new homes."

Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour welcomed the funding and continued support from the State Government, which would help address the need for housing while ensuring the region grows sustainably. "This is a substantial investment in the future of the Fraser Coast, supporting essential infrastructure like water, sewage, stormwater and roads needed to open up more than 1,800 new homes," Mayor Seymour said. "Council is committed to working with all levels of government to meet the challenges of growth while protecting the unique character of our communities. This funding helps us deliver key infrastructure sooner, supporting jobs and addressing housing supply pressures."
