Fredrik Jäderling Receives SURF's 2026 Honorary Award

We congratulate Fredrik Jäderling, Associate Professor of Radiology and Medical Imaging in the Urology group, who has been awarded the Swedish Urogenital Radiology Association's (SURF) Honorary Award 2026. He receives the award for his significant contributions to Swedish urogenital radiology.

Citation

Fredrik Jäderling has been instrumental in establishing prostate MRI as a key component of prostate cancer diagnostics in Sweden through his doctoral research on preoperative staging, his contributions to the implementation of MRI in the National Prostate Cancer Care Programme, and his extensive educational and quality-improvement efforts.

Fredrik has also played a leading role in the Stockholm 3 study and as an MRI expert in OPT Stockholm. He is also internationally involved in the ESUR Prostate MRI Working Group, a member of the PI-RADS Subcommittee on Follow-up, and the responsible radiologist on the Steering Group for the National Prostate Cancer Register (NPCR).

Fredrik has a passionate interest in quality issues related to prostate MRI, which has been reflected in two national initiatives with Equalis for prostate volume measurement, PI-RADS grading and staging (together with the KVAST pathology group). In the same spirit, Fredrik has promoted knowledge sharing for protocol optimisation.
