MidCoast Council

Lake-lovers, ahoy! You can soon boat across Wallis Lake in a free Marine Discovery event to be held this May.

Gain an incredible understanding of our beautiful waterway, in this informative workshop delving into the animals that make the lake its home, as well as the ways we can all help protect this local natural resource.

The event will kick off on Tuesday 10 May from 10am. On the boat, you'll hear from scientists about the latest research taking place.

You'll also gain insight from locals on topics such as the history of oyster farming, fishing and more.

It will also be on opportunity for those on board to have their say about the upcoming preparation of a ten-year plan designed to manage Wallis Lake.

The event is part of Hunter Local Land Services and MidCoast Council's Marine Discovery program. The program is supported by the New South Wales Government through Local Land Services and MidCoast Council's Environmental Rate.

"The Marine Discovery series is designed to bring together some of the leading names in marine research and conservation to share their findings and raise awareness of our amazing local environments," said Gerard Tuckerman, Council's Manager of Natural Systems.

"It is also a great opportunity for our local residents to get involved."

The event is suitable for all.
