A further 1,400 new homes will be unlocked along Bundaberg's coastline with construction of three critical infrastructure projects set to be fast-tracked under the Crisafulli Government's landmark $2 billion Residential Activation Fund. The Crisafulli Government has today announced funding of $23.2 million under the Residential Activation Fund (RAF) will support construction of three projects along the Coral Coast which will unlock 1,436 new homes. The RAF will fully-fund $22.2 million worth of trunk infrastructure required to unlock the Coral Cove Ocean Estate project which will increase land supply and provide much-needed homes on the Bundaberg coast. It will also deliver a $691,459 boost towards a sewer rising main upgrade on Poinciana Drive in Innes Park and a $332,766 boost towards the Poinciana Drive and Back Windemere Rd intersection upgrade. It comes just months after the Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie visited Bundaberg where he announced $11 million of RAF funding would fast-track six critical projects which will unlock 10,000 new homes. The $2 billion RAF has received 178 submissions – 64 from South East Queensland and 114 from regional, rural and remote Queensland. The Crisafulli Government's 2025-26 Budget is delivering up to $1 billion for round one of the RAF, doubled from the original $500 million, in response to the overwhelming support and availability of shovel-ready projects. Round one funding focuses on the construction of critical trunk infrastructure needed such as water supply, sewerage, stormwater, and roads needed to unlock new residential developments and ease Labor's Housing Crisis. The $2 billion RAF is a key pillar of the Crisafulli Government's Securing Our Housing Foundations Plan and is breaking down the barriers for infill and greenfield developments. The Fund will deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders and support one million new homes by 2044 with at least 50 per cent of the overall funding to be invested in regional and remote Queensland. Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie, said the Residential Activation Fund was set to unlock thousands of new homes across Queensland. "The Crisafulli Government's landmark $2 billion Residential Activation Fund is delivering for the Bundaberg region, unlocking much-needed housing sooner and easing Labor's Housing Crisis," Deputy Premier Bleijie said. "This $23.2million investment along the Coral Coast will give more Queenslanders a place to call home after a decade of decline under the former Labor Government. "The Residential Activation Fund is just one way the Crisafulli Government is creating jobs, unlocking housing and ensuring that Queensland continues to manage population growth, address housing affordability and protect the lifestyle of local communities." Minister for Housing and Public Works Sam O'Connor said the Crisafulli Government is listening to regional communities after a decade of decline under the former Labor Government. "After 10 years of decline under Labor, regional communities like Bundaberg are finally seeing the investment needed to deliver the homes they deserve," Minister O'Connor said. "In just 10 months, the Crisafulli Government is backing projects that unlock land and fast-track new housing – part of our plan to deliver one million homes by 2044, with half of the Residential Activation Fund dedicated to the regions." Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said the Crisafulli Government's Residential Activation Fund will unlock more homes for Queenslanders sooner. "The Crisafulli Government is delivering for Bundaberg and the Burnett following a decade of decline by former Labor Government," Mr Bennett said. "This critical investment comes just months after the Deputy Premier visited Bundaberg where he announced $11 million of RAF funding would unlock 10,000 new homes." Bundaberg Regional Council Mayor Helen Blackburn said the funding announcement would support outcomes identified in Council's Bundaberg Local Housing Action Plan. "The Bundaberg Region is facing a range of immediate, emerging and long-term housing challenges that we cannot tackle alone," Mayor Blackburn said. "Securing funding under the Queensland Government's Residential Activation Fund means the Bundaberg Region will see fast-tracked delivery of critical infrastructure for essential services which support housing growth. "Advocacy for catalytic infrastructure funding is one of the key actions within the Bundaberg Local Housing Action Plan and we're delighted to see further investment in our region from the Queensland Government. "This support is vital to addressing housing challenges in our community while supporting local jobs and economic development."
