Community organisations that bring communities together and provide life-changing support to Tasmanians in need will receive a boost in funding as part of the upcoming 2025-26 Budget.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff announced the funding increase today which includes the Salvation Army's Red Shield Appeal and raises funds to deliver social and community programs across Tasmania.
"The 2025-26 Budget will build a better Tasmania: now and for the future," the Premier said.
"It continues to deliver our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future which supports stronger communities – and delivers on the things that matter.
"Through our Community Participation and Appeals Fund, the Tasmanian Government partners with community organisations, reflecting our shared commitment of supporting vulnerable Tasmanians – and our deep appreciation for the critical work they deliver across our communities.
"The Salvation Army is just one of these trusted and valued partners supporting Tasmanians doing it tough – whether through food relief, housing support, financial counselling, addiction and more.
"This year's Budget will see our investment in the Red Shield Appeal double from $30,000 to $60,000 per annum.
"We want to continue to support these important organisations and the work they do in our communities, which is why are we boosting their funding, and providing them with the confidence they need to expand their reach and to continue supports for years to come."
