If you have an idea for an arts project, then the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) may be able to help.
The next round of Rockhampton's RADF is now open, with applications being sought for projects that will start after 1 June 2024.
RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Rockhampton Regional Council, supporting professional artists and arts practice in regional areas.
RADF covers projects that enhance the arts on a local level by providing financial assistance to support artists' professional development or increase artists' employment opportunities.
Funding comes under two categories – Development Grant and Project Grant
Development grants for artists and arts workers cover: professional career development, skills development workshops, concept development and creative development of new work. Assistance is available for up to 65 percent of the total costs to a maximum of $5000.
Project Grants cover: artistic components of exhibitions, performances, festivals and events, public presentations. Assistance is available for up to 80 percent of the total cost to a maximum of $10,000
Rockhampton Regional Council Communities and Heritage portfolio spokesperson Cr Drew Wickerson encouraged local individuals and groups to see if RADF could help them.
"RADF can support all kinds of projects, within these two broad categories," he said.
"RADF welcomes applications from all genres whether it is visual arts, crafts, performing arts, collections and museums, new media and more," he said.
"I recommend that anyone considering an arts project have a look at the case studies of recent RADF funding rounds to see the kinds of applications that have been successful. These are available on the RADF page of Council's web site" he said.
Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said the Queensland Government's successful, long-term partnership with local governments through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) supports the delivery of hundreds of arts experiences, employment opportunities and capacity building for arts and cultural workers across the state.
"As part of our ongoing commitment to strengthen local communities and drive economic outcomes through arts and culture, the Queensland Government has provided $2.184 million for RADF 2023-24 to 59 local councils who have contributed a co-investment of $1.979 million," Minister Enoch said.
"The Queensland Government's Creative Together 2020-2030 roadmap prioritises activation of Queensland's places and spaces and arts engagement that drives positive change for Queensland communities. Projects funded through RADF support communities to share stories and creativity, provide important pathways for learning and connection, and boost local creative economies and tourism."
Council's website (www.rockhamptonregion.qld.gov.au/radf) has information on previously successful RADF applications which current applicants might find helpful.
Quick responses grants are available for any project or activity that requires funding outside the grant rounds with assistance available for up to 65 percent of the total costs to a maximum of $1000.
Applications are now being accepted for projects commencing on or after Saturday 1 June 2024.
