Gilgandra Shire Council is pleased to announce it has secured funding through the NSW Government's Destination Country and Outback NSW Regional Event Fund (REF), providing a significant boost to the promotion of the Goin' to Gil Weekend and Under the Gums Festival.
Building on the success of last year's campaign, the funding will support the return of Council's roadshow marketing initiative, this year reimagined as Cooee to Country.
The campaign will see the Under the Gums team travel across regional New South Wales in August and September, visiting towns including Coonabarabran, Gunnedah, Tamworth, Narrabri, Coonamble, Nyngan, Dubbo, Wellington and Mudgee to promote the Goin' to Gil Weekend and Under the Gums Festival ahead of the 26th - 28th September long weekend.
The roadshow will feature business visits, community activations, social media content, local collaborations and promotional giveaways, taking the spirit of Gilgandra directly to communities throughout the region. The campaign aims to increase event awareness, encourage ticket sales and inspire more visitors to experience everything the Gilgandra Region has to offer.
Project Lead Neil Alchin said securing the funding for a second consecutive year was a fantastic outcome for the region.
"This funding gives us the opportunity to continue building the profile of Under the Gums and the Goin' to Gil Weekend by taking our message directly into communities across regional New South Wales," Mr Alchin said.
"It's about creating connections, showcasing what makes Gilgandra unique and encouraging people to experience our region, support our local businesses and be part of one of the biggest weekends on our events calendar."
The campaign forms part of Council's broader Destination Marketing Strategy and supports the continued growth of event tourism within the Gilgandra Region. By attracting new visitors and encouraging overnight stays, the initiative is expected to deliver ongoing economic benefits for local businesses while strengthening Gilgandra's reputation as a vibrant destination for regional events.
Council looks forward to hitting the road and sharing the excitement of the Goin' to Gil Weekend and Under the Gums Festival with communities across the state.
