NSW will cement itself as the nation's premier sporting State through the second round of the NSW Government's Centre of Excellence Fund, with applications now open.
Minister for Sport Alister Henskens said up to $90 million is available to sporting, education and government organisations for the development of integrated high-performance training, administration, and community facilities to improve talent pathways and community engagement for sporting codes.
"This program supports the development of integrated world-class high-performance facilities for the identification and development of sporting talent," Mr Henskens said.
"Our best athletes need the best training facilities, and these centres of excellence will be a focus point for the development of the next generation of sporting stars across Olympic, Paralympic and professional sports.
"As we head towards the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games and with NSW to host 10 World Cups in 10 Years, we can be certain that facilities funded under this program will produce Australian gold medalists and world champions."
More than $60 million was awarded to six sporting organisations in round one of the Fund including Australian rules football, disability sports, aerial Olympic sports and cricket.
A key requirement for funding is the inclusion of dedicated female programs and facilities to improve pathways for women and girls in line with the NSW Government's Her Sport Her Way program.
The fund is a key initiative of the NSW Government's statewide sports infrastructure program, creating thousands of construction jobs and boosting the State's economy.
Applications close Monday 5 December 2022.
