A teenager will face court today after further charges laid over stabbing in Sydney's Inner West earlier this year.
An off-duty police officer stopped to assist a distressed teenage girl on Alice Street, Newtown, about 1am on Sunday 6 September 2020, when she was confronted by a group of teenagers.
During the incident the female sergeant suffered a stab wound to her torso. At the time, she was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment.
Officers from Inner West Police Area Command commenced an investigation.
Three teenagers - two boys, aged 15, and a 14-year-old girl - were arrested nearby at Marrickville and taken to Newtown Police Station where charges were laid. They remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, the Punchbowl boy was taken into custody at Penrith Police Station yesterday (Friday 13 November 2020)
He was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and refused bail to appear at a children's court today (Saturday 14 November 2020).
