Bali (28/9) –

The G20 Agriculture Ministers Meeting (AMM) has officially opened. When opening the meeting in official, the Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, stated that the food issue is a Human Rights issue.

"The issue of food is an issue related to Human Rights. The presence of all delegates here shows our commitment to addressing the threat of a global food crisis and our full support for the G20 Presidency of Indonesia," said Syahrul in Jimbaran, Bali.

The current global challenges, starting from the climate change crisis, the Covid-19 pandemic, and aggravated by the escalation of geopolitical tensions in various parts of the world, said Syahrul, he demands joint movement and commitment from all G20 countries to take immediate action to accelerate the transformation of agricultural systems and food.

"We must take immediate action in the short, medium and long term, to accelerate the transformation of agriculture and food systems to become more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable and to ensure better food, nutrition and environmental production, without missing or leaving anything behind," explained Syahrul.

He continued that this meeting would focus on discussing three priority issues, the first is to Promote Resilient and Sustainable Agriculture and Food System. Second, to promote Open, Fair, Predictable, Transparent and Non-Discriminatory Agricultural Trade to Ensure Availability and Affordability of Food for Everyone;

"And the last one is Innovative Agriculture entrepreneurship through Digital Agriculture to Improve Farmers' Livelihoods in Rural Areas," explained Syahrul.

The three priority issues, continued Syahrul, will be easily realized if all G20 countries are committed to take a move together, "Collaboration is the key to overcome current and future challenges. We believe, only with tight collaboration and synergy we can realize Recover Together, Recover Stronger" closed Syahrul.
