Geelong event to support responsible smart tech

Smart technology and urban innovation specialists will come together in Geelong on Thursday 15 June to discuss and share best practice knowledge on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it can be used to make a positive difference.

The City of Greater Geelong and the Australian Smart Communities Association (ASCA) are joining forces to present the industry only ASCA Smart Community Showcase Tour, featuring a walking tour of Smart Geelong initiatives and a focused workshop.

Emerging technologies such as AI are fast transforming how cities, businesses, organisations and governments work. When utilised in a responsible, transparent and collaborative way, AI can support the speeding up of processes, attract new industries, revolutionise research and help businesses make better decisions.

Attendees will learn about how our region is supporting safe, secure, ethical, and transparent technologies to make Greater Geelong a more liveable, fairer and sustainable place to live.

The event will delve into the role of responsible advanced tech and analytics in a Smart City, device management, challenges of implementation and important privacy and ethical considerations. This will involve case studies, live footage demonstrations and an interactive discussion.

The walking tour will showcase Smart Geelong initiatives deployed by the City and digital leaders including intelligent precincts and places, smart infrastructure and innovative technologies.

The Australian Smart Communities Association is excited about coming to Geelong to see first-hand some of the great work that led to Geelong being recognised as the International Smart City of the Year in 2022.

ASCA members are spread across Australia and are working to make their communities better places through the use of digital innovation and smart technology.

The Geelong study tour will provide valuable lessons that can help other regions with their programs.
