Gerard Brody joins Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman Board

The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) Limited welcomes the new appointment of Gerard Brody as a member of its Board of Directors. His three-year term commenced from 16 December 2022.

Gerard has joined as a Director with Consumer Experience and replaces Catherine Wolthuizen who resigned in August 2022.

Gerard has extensive experience in the consumer sector, and has worked as a lawyer, policy officer, and consumer advocate for 20 years.

Most recently, Gerard was the CEO of the Consumer Action Law Centre, a leading consumer advocacy organisation that provides legal assistance and financial counselling. Gerard has also been a board director of the Energy & Water Ombudsman of Victoria since 2014, and is a director of Community Legal Centres Australia, the peak body for community legal centres nationally.

Gerard is the Chair of Consumers' Federation of Australia, the peak body for consumer organisations in Australia. In this role, Gerard represents a diverse range of consumer groups, including most national consumer organisations.

The Board of TIO Limited is chaired by an independent Director and comprises a balanced mix of Directors with industry and consumer experience, an Independent Director with not-for-profit governance experience and an Independent Director with commercial governance experience.
