The Crisafulli Government has delivered a new clubhouse for the North Rockhampton football community, including new female changerooms and air-conditioning, as part of the $250 million Games On! program.
The Glenmore Bulls Football Club plays an important role in North Rockhampton, hosting Auskick, junior boys and girls, and men's and women's teams with more than 350 club members, from under 7s to seniors, who will immediately benefit from the new facilities.
Games On! is already supporting 119 projects throughout Queensland, encouraging more Queenslander to get involved in sport, and delivering legacy benefits for 2032 and beyond.
The Australian Government and AFL Queensland also contributed funding towards the project.
The Crisafulli Government is not only getting the Games back on track after 1200 days of chaos under Labor, but also delivering upgrades to grassroots sports across the State, so the benefits of the Games can be enjoyed by all Queenslanders.
Acting Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Andrew Powell congratulated the club on delivering the new facilities.
"The Crisafulli Government is backing grassroots sporting clubs, like the Glenmore Bulls, which are run by hard-working volunteers and are the backbone of participation, inclusion and connection throughout Queensland," Minister Powell said.
"The Games On! grassroots infrastructure program is about ensuring there is a lasting legacy right across Queensland in 2032 and beyond."
Member for Rockhampton Donna Kirkland said the investment in the Glenmore Bulls was strengthening grassroots sport and delivering lasting benefits for the North Rockhampton community.
"When you improve the facilities, the more people will want to get involved, whether that's as players or club volunteers," Mrs Kirkland said.
"Upgrading the female changerooms has been a key priority for the club for some time and with the sharp increase in female registrations is a very welcome delivery."
Glenmore Bulls Club President Dr Sean Peckover said the new facilities was helping the club expand and better serve the community.
"The new clubhouse is much more than a building, it's a genuine investment in our players, volunteers, families and the future of local football," Dr Peckover said.
"As we continue to grow, the new female changerooms will provide a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment for our members and visitors.
"We are grateful to everyone who helped us make this a reality, including the Queensland Government for its support through the Games On! program."
