Gold Coast Mum Claims $1.2 Million Lotto Win

A Robina mum who has been navigating some tough times recently found a bright spot: she won a life-changing $1.2 million in the Saturday Lotto draw.

The fortunate Gold Coast resident secured one of the four division one winning tickets in the Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4403, held on 30 September 2023, with each winning ticket cashing in a whopping $1,266,906.25.

However, since the ticket wasn't registered to a player card, lottery officials had no means of getting in touch with the winner directly and had to patiently await her own discovery of the windfall.

“I’m in shock. I can’t believe it. I purchased this at the very last minute when I was leaving and I said to the team member at the newsagency, ‘give me this random ticket.’ I only play twice a year if that," recounting the unplanned purchase, the Queenslander said.

“I’m so grateful for this win. Wow, something has gone right for once! We’ve had a tough two years, and oh my god, you have absolutely no idea. This will take the pressure off for sure."

Pledging to use her newfound fortune for her family's well-being, especially her children, the elated woman added, “Thank you so much for changing our lives.”

Her lucky ticket was acquired at Paperboxx Robina, located at Level 2 of Robina Town Centre.

Harmony Rankin, the team leader at Paperboxx Robina, shared the store's excitement over this monumental win.

"We couldn't believe it! We've sold a few division two winning tickets – including one in last Saturday's draw – but never a division one!” she exclaimed.

“Our regular customers who come in every week have been so excited to see that we've finally sold the big one! They've been saying they want to see a division one plaque up on our wall for a long time! We are so excited for the lucky customer, and we hope it went to someone who needed it and that it helps them out!”

The winning combination for the Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4403 on 30 September 2023 comprised the numbers 20, 45, 43, 27, 6, and 29, with the supplementary numbers being 36 and 9.

Nationwide, the draw saw four division one winning entries: two from Queensland and one each from New South Wales and Western Australia.
