Grants Propel Success in WA Agrifood, Beverage Sector

  • Value Add Investment Grants to assist agrifood businesses to explore opportunities for expansion, diversification, and growth
  • Investments support WA agrifood and beverage manufacturing and processing
  • Cook Government committed to diversifying the economy and making more things in WA

The Cook Government is investing in the future of Western Australia's agrifood and beverage sector with funding to help take businesses to the next level.

Eight businesses will share in more than $437,500 worth of Value Add Investment Grants for feasibility studies that support business expansion, diversification, and growth.

Wangara-based iPastai will direct its $24,500 grant towards a consultation project to support expansion plans to capture new domestic and export markets for its handmade fresh and frozen products.

Together with co-investment from the company, the feasibility study will explore opportunities to introduce advanced automation across the operation, from production to distribution, to underpin future capital investment - supporting jobs and local suppliers.

Other feasibility grants will assist WA Salt Koolyanobbing to improve quality standards of its food grade salt, Western Meat Packers to examine increasing capacity, and Tingle Ridge Farm to investigate a multi-species abattoir, while As One Nyitting will look to expand its range of bush tea products.

The feasibility grants will leverage more than $220,000from recipients for studies that will pave the way for future capital investments that deliver employment and economic benefits to metropolitan and regional communities.

The initiative complements the program's Capital Investment Stream, which has seen $23.8 million in grants drive agrifood and beverage investment over the past seven years, attracting $262 million in private capital and generating more than 1,000 jobs.
