Grievous bodily harm at Rockhampton 1 September

A 20-year-old Berserker woman has been charged in relation to the alleged serious assault of a taxi driver at Rockhampton City early this morning (September 1).

Just before 3am two women were being transported in a taxi by a 61-year-old The Range man, when it is alleged the women became verbally abusive and were asked to exit the vehicle on Fitzroy Street near George Street.

It is then alleged the women repeatedly assaulted the 61-year-old man, who suffered facial fractures and a broken leg.

It is further alleged during the assault a quantity of cash and personal possessions were taken from the vehicle.

Police provided first aid before the man was transported to Rockhampton Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Patrols of the area immediately located a 20-year-old woman who was subsequently taken into custody.

She has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and is expected to appear before Rockhampton Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Investigations are ongoing.
