Grievous bodily harm chargesin Brisbane

Police have charged a 37-year-old Pallara man with multiple grievous bodily harm charges after three separate people were allegedly struck by the same vehicle across Brisbane's south in the past two weeks.

Police will allege that on the morning of December 23, a 27-year-old woman was walking through a Calamvale shopping centre underground car park, before being struck from behind by a vehicle, believed to be a silver 2010 Ford Focus, before the vehicle fled the scene and failed to render assistance.

The woman was found by members of the public a short time later and was transported to the Mater Hospital in a stable condition.

It will be further alleged that on the evening of January 1, an 85-year-old male cyclist was riding along Daw Road at Runcorn before a vehicle matching the description of the Ford Focus travelled behind the cyclist and swerved to hit them. The vehicle then fled the scene and failed to render assistance.

The cyclist was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

It will be further alleged that yesterday, January 3, an 81-year-old Eight Mile Plains man was walking through an Mt Gravatt shopping centre car park before being struck from behind by a vehicle matching the description of the Ford Focus.

The driver initially left the scene following the collision but returned in the Ford Focus after being contacted by police.

The 81-year-old man was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers were able to obtain and examine CCTV of all three incidents and determine the silver 2010 Ford Focus was the involved vehicle.

The 37-year-old Pallara man has been charged with three counts of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, fail to remain at incident and render assistance, and one count of fail to provide specimen of blood for analysis.

His bail has been refused, and he will face Brisbane Magistrates Court today (January 4).
