Griffith and its distinctive flavours, rich agricultural story and strong multicultural heritage are set to feature on the acclaimed Rick Stein's Australia, a six-part journey across the country exploring the people, places and produce shaping modern Australian cuisine.
Episode 5, airing Thursday 28 May 2026 at 7.30pm on SBS, will showcase the Riverina region and Griffith as part of a series that celebrates Australia's evolving food culture through storytelling, travel and cooking.
In the episode, the celebrated chef travels to Griffith, uncovering how irrigation along the Murrumbidgee River transformed the region into a thriving food bowl and attracted generations of post-war Italian migrants who helped shape its identity.
Filming in and around Griffith includes local producers and culinary traditions that continue to define the region today. Viewers will see the Piccolo Family Farm just outside Griffith, which has evolved into an agritourism experience, alongside De Bortoli Wines highlighting the region's long history of winemaking.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran said it is fantastic to see Griffith showcased on this global television broadcast.
"Seeing Griffith featured in a series of this calibre helps showcase what locals already know, that we are a place rich in produce, culture and experiences. It is the kind of publicity that strengthens our reputation and encourages people to come and discover the region for themselves," he said.
Make sure you tune in on Thursday 28 May at 7.30pm on SBS to see familiar local faces and places celebrated.
