Group Leader Recruitment

Are you a creative early-career or established researcher who wishes to develop exciting long-term independent programs in plant and microbial science?

We are recruiting group leaders.

As a highly collaborative international centre of excellence, the John Innes Centre encourages applications from all branches of life sciences. We particularly welcome those in the areas of plant interactions with bacteria, fungi, insects, nematodes and symbionts, chemistry and biology of plant and microbial natural products, and organellar signalling and cell biology. The breadth of our current portfolio can be seen on our website.

We offer access to a range of state-of-the art technology platforms that support Group Leaders and their labs across all scientific disciplines, including bioimaging, biomolecular analyses, genomics and database services, and field, horticultural and (quarantine) entomology services.

We also offer a vibrant mentoring programme for all career levels and a collegial environment that encourages strategic input at all levels.

Interested applicants are invited to submit a description of current research activities, and a summary of short and longer-term research aims and potential strategic goals (each ~2-3 pages).

Applications are made online, and need to include a CV, and names of three academic referees.

Appointments can be made at any level depending on experience and come with significant support (professional development, research and administrative). Start-up research funding is negotiable.
