The City of Casey is pleased to announce that upgrade works have officially commenced at the Hallam Community Learning Centre.
To mark the start of the project, Kalora Ward Councillor Melinda Ambros; The Hon. Harriet Shing MP; and Belinda Wilson MP visited the Kays Avenue site on Thursday 26 March.
The Hallam Community Learning Centre offers a wide range of programs, including basic computer skills, English language and Auslan classes, as well as art, quilting and sewing programs.
City of Casey Mayor Stefan Koomen said "The Hallam Community Learning Centre is a highly valued part of our community, bringing people together and supporting life-long learning. We know how important this facility is to local residents, and we're really looking forward to seeing the upgraded centre continue to the serve and strengthen the community for years to come."
As part of the upgrade, existing retaining walls and vegetation will be removed, and a new retaining wall will be constructed. The project also includes an extension to the kitchen and office areas, along with new floor coverings across several rooms within the facility. The much needed works will ensure the centre can continue providing the community with a modern, welcoming and functional space for learning and connection.
The upgrade of the Hallam Community Learning Centre is a jointly funded partnership between the City of Casey and the Victorian Government through the Growing Suburbs Fund, with each contributing $410,000.
Works are expected to be completed by early September.
