Hard waste voucher availability expanded

Barossa Council

Due to popular demand we are extending our hard and organic waste voucher initiative.

At a Special Council meeting on Wednesday night Council supported the recommendation to fund a further 500 vouchers valued at $75 each to support resident rate payers to responsibly dispose of hard or excess organic waste.

The initial round of vouchers were released two weeks ago, with around 30 vouchers being claimed by resident ratepayers each day.

The prompt uptake from community demonstrated the clear need to direct additional funding to the initiative.

- Mayor Bim Lange

"We are acutely aware that residents have been asking for action on this matter for some time, and so we want to ensure we can provide the necessary support to meet the demand to facilitate responsible waste disposal."

Vouchers are redeemable at Springton Transfer Station, Eco Waste Solutions and the Yard Clean Up Man.

The option to open Springton Transfer Station for an additional Saturday during June, depending on voucher demand, is also supported.

An 'on demand' kerbside hard waste collection initiative will be piloted during a concentrated two month period during the 2021-22 financial year in township areas with the voucher system remaining in place for rural residents.

To obtain a voucher for use before 30 June visit our principal office at Nuriootpa or call 8563 8444.
