NSW Geographical Names Board
The Geographical Names Board is calling for community feedback on a proposal by the Inner West Council to name an urban area in Petersham as Little Portugal.
Chair of the Geographical Names Board Narelle Underwood said feedback is being sought on the proposal to name the urban place located near New Canterbury Road, Audley Street and Trafalgar Street in Petersham as Little Portugal.
The small section of Petersham has been known colloquially as Little Portugal for many years with the Portuguese community establishing strong connection to Petersham which spans the last 40 years.
Mrs Underwood said the board is encouraging community
