Haven Tennis Lights To Boost Participation, Access

Horsham Rural City Council is delivering a major upgrade to sporting infrastructure at Haven, with new tennis court lighting set to significantly expand participation opportunities for the local community.

The Haven Tennis Lighting Project will deliver a regional-level upgrade at the Haven Recreation Reserve, including compliant, energy-efficient lighting across 12 competition courts. The project also includes peripheral lighting to support safe access, along with an automated lighting system.

Once complete, the upgraded facility will support training and competition beyond daylight hours, helping meet the needs of a growing and active community.

Mayor Cr Brian Klowss said the project would be a game-changer for participation at Haven.

"This project is about opening the door to more people being active, more often," Cr Klowss said.

"By extending the usable hours of the facility, we're supporting local clubs to grow, easing pressure on existing schedules, and making it easier for people to participate in ways that suit their lives."

The new lighting will increase training capacity, support junior and female participation, and create opportunities to host regional-level tournaments. It will also provide greater flexibility for competitions and broader community use.

"We know access to quality facilities is one of the biggest drivers of participation," Mayor Klowss said.

"This investment ensures Haven remains a welcoming, accessible and inclusive space for the whole community."

Construction timelines and further project updates will be shared with the community as works progress.

Horsham Rural City Council acknowledges the Victorian Government for its valued partnership and significant investment of $250,000 toward the $592,925 (ex. GST) Haven Tennis Lighting Project.

Council also thanks Tennis Victoria for its ongoing support and valuable input during the planning phase, helping ensure the project meets the needs of a regional tennis facility now and into the future.
