As the community takes stock following the devastating flood, the thoughts of many are turning to the future and long-term plans for the Tweed.
Tweed residents are invited to attend a Community Conversation in Tweed Heads next week (Tuesday 29 March), or go online in their own time to contribute to a plan that will set the vision and priorities for the Tweed for the next 5 years, and help shape the future of the Shire.
The community's aspirations will then be embedded into a Community Strategic Plan (CSP) for the Shire.
Last drafted in 2017, Council is now reviewing the CSP to make sure it continues to reflect the community's priorities.
Mayor of Tweed Chris Cherry encouraged as many residents as possible to have their say on the plan.
"The past few weeks have been stressful and devastating for many in our community and caused many of us to reassess our priorities and consider what is most important to us," Cr Cherry said.
"And while many residents may not be in a position to contribute to this plan right now, we would encourage everyone who can to have their say in a way that works best for them.
"Once we have incorporated community feedback from this early stage of consultation into the draft plan, we will place it on public exhibition in late April, so people have another opportunity to make comment before it is finalised."
The community has already been sharing their views of what is important to them in a range of ways, including through Council's Be Our Best Resident Survey in December, Community Conversations, Stakeholder Forums, formal submissions, Advisory Committees and Project Reference Groups. These have all provided insight into what our community values and what they want Council to prioritise.

Council uses the Community Strategic Plan to guide planning for its programs and services to ensure the community's ambitions are met for the Tweed.
