Helping You To Help Teens

Wyndham City Council is running a series of Tuning in to Teens workshops in a bid to better connect adults and young people.

The eight-week program, run across Wyndham, will teach adults a range of practical skills to connect with the young people in their lives.

Family Friendly portfolio holder Cr Mia Shaw said the course showed young people how to respond to anxiety, anger, and sadness and the best ways to manage emotions."

"This course is a step-by-step process of how to connect with young people in our families and in the community," Cr Shaw said.

"It shows us how to maintain close relationships with young people and repair relationships when they have been fractured."

"Teenage years can be difficult for the teen and their parents and guardians."

"This free course will help support them as they enter some of the most important years for their schooling and careers."

"As well as building bonds between families, the emotional intelligence teens learn from the program will help with their social lives, mental health and problem resolutions."

The program runs for eight weekly sessions, each session running for two hours.
