The Regatta Grounds will explode with a mix of colour and culture on Sunday when the Hobart Holi Colour Festival 2023 comes to life.
Welcoming and Inclusive City Portfolio Chair Cr Dr Zelinda Sherlock said the City of Hobart was proud to be supporting the free event with a $20,000 grant.
"Holi Festival showcases the incredible cultural delights that the Nepalese Community has to offer Hobart," Cr Sherlock said.
"Food, music, dancing and of course the fun of throwing vibrant coloured powder in the air.
"Holi Festival is an important tradition across Nepal and India and we are lucky to be able to experience the joy of it here in Hobart."
Cr Dr Zelinda Sherlock said Indian and Nepalese culture had become woven into the fabric of Hobart.
"Nepali is Tasmania's third most spoken language after English and Mandarin," she said.
"Hobart Holi Festival attracts over 5000 people which shows just how much the Hobart community has embraced Indian and Nepalese culture.
"With live DJs, fireworks, carnival rides, food, performance and of course, colour, there is something for everyone."
Pritesh Ranjitkar, President of event organiser Klub Kollywood INC, said the grant from the City of Hobart means a lot.
"Council is a great supporter of the Hobart Holi Festival. We thank the Hobart community for embracing our event and culture."
Hobart Holi Colour Festival 2023 is on Sunday 5 March, 11am-9pm at the Regatta Grounds.
The event is free but patrons must register for tickets.
The event is organised by Klub Kollywood INC, a community-based Nepalese Not-for-Profit Organisation, with support from City of Hobart.
