HR leader to return to UQ in chief role

University of Queensland has appointed accomplished people and culture leader Phillip Vaughan to the position of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).

Mr Vaughan has a breadth of HR experience in Australia and overseas and is a passionate advocate for the role of universities in solving global challenges.

A former Human Resources Manager with the Faculty of Medicine, he returns to UQ after seven years at Monash University, including two years in the CHRO role.

Prior to joining the higher education sector, he was the Queensland and Northern Territory Industrial Services Officer with the Independent Education Union.

Mr Vaughan holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Environmental Health, a post-graduate qualification in Industrial Relations, and has undertaken Executive Leadership training with UQ.

He will take up the position in June.
