Inter-American Council Marks 30 Years of Driving Prosperity

Inter-American Council for Integral Development Celebrates Three Decades Coordinating Dialogues, Consensus, and Policies to Drive Prosperity for the Americas May 1, 2026

The Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold a special meeting titled "30 years of CIDI: Integral Development in Action - dialogue, cooperation, and results." The event, moderated by Ana María Cañizares, CNN en Español correspondent, will take place on Tuesday, May 5, at 10:00 EDT (14:00 GMT), in the Hall of the Americas at the OAS headquarters in Washington, D.C. Through thematic panels composed of ministerial authorities, development experts, and ambassadors, the session will explore the following topics:

• The significance of the Council's 30th anniversary as the body responsible for advancing the OAS development pillar.

• Innovation and regional cooperation as accelerators of development, peace, and democracy.

• The value of political dialogue and regional cooperation in promoting inclusive and competitive economies, as well as culture, tourism, education and human development; decent and productive jobs; the transition toward sustainability; and competitive, safe, and inclusive port sectors.

The meeting will be broadcast live - with interpretation in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese- on the OAS Website and the OAS Facebook page. Following the session, a documentary and photographic exhibition showcasing milestones in CIDI's history will be held.
