Interrelate Launches Children's Contact Service in Muswellbrook

Interrelate

Interrelate has opened a new children's contact centre in Muswellbrook, offering a safe, neutral, and flexible service for parents, children, and their families to build positive relationships with family members who they do not live with.

The service provides a space for parents and family members in a co-parenting situation to engage in change-over / change-back arrangements, and supervised contacts in a relaxed family environment.

Interrelate's children's contact service (CCS) has been providing a welcoming environment for children to connect with separated family members since 2000. The expansion into Muswellbrook will provide a vital space in your community for families to strengthen their relationships and develop skills that will support healthy and respectful relationships in the long term.

"The opening of our children's contact service has been well received by local services and community members with many saying they work with families who require a service like this. Before we opened the Muswellbrook centre, the closest contact centres were 2 hours away in Newcastle and Tamworth, so it provides a closer option for local families who are currently travelling long distances." - Says Sandy Morrison, Coordinator, children's contact service, Muswellbrook

The new centre will help meet the demand from families seeking support to manage the sometimes complex situations that can arise from family separation.

Backed by 96 years in family and relationship support service delivery, Interrelate are pleased to be extending that support to more communities in need and bringing more job opportunities that have a positive social impact.

"Clients are supported with resources, strategies, and assistance to help them achieve their goals; in addition we provide referrals for client's individual family needs." - Says Helen Cook, Project Manager, children's contact service, Interrelate
