Investigation Ongoing: Sexual Assault at Tram Stop

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance as they continue to investigate a sexual assault in Melbourne's CBD earlier this year.

A man approached a 17-year-old girl at the D15 tram stop on Collins Street in Docklands about 2.50pm on 26 June.

Police were told the man took a photo with the teenager, before inappropriately hugging and touching her.

The girl then boarded the next tram, while the man remained at the tram stop.

Investigators believe the man walked west on Collins Street towards Capital Hill Drive and was later seen loitering around Monash College.

Police have released CCTV and images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is perceived to be of Indian Sub-Continental appearance and is approximately 160cms tall with a black moustache and short black hair.

He was seen wearing a white business shirt with black dots, dark blue or black trousers, a Louis Vuitton belt and black shoes.

He was also carrying a black backpack and wearing a gold banded watch with a white face.

Anyone who recognises the man or has information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
