Investigators re-appeal for information into fatal balcony fall in Sydney CBD

Police are re-appealing for information as inquiries continue into the death of a woman who fell from a hotel balcony in Sydney's CBD last week.

Just after 8pm last Friday (22 May 2020), emergency services were called to a hotel on Sussex Street, following reports a woman had fallen from a 10th floor balcony.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and located the body of the 45-year-old woman on a level one rooftop.

The circumstances surrounding the woman's death are being investigated by Sydney City detectives under Strike Force Cumulus.

As part of their ongoing inquiries, strike force detectives, assisted by the Forensic Evidence and Technical Services Branch and the Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit, conducted further examinations, including re-enactments, at the hotel yesterday (Thursday 28 May 2020).

Further analysis of information obtained during the examinations is underway and detectives are again appealing to the community for information that may assist with their inquiries.

In particular, investigators would like to speak with anyone who was staying at the hotel or walking on the boardwalk on the Darling Harbour side of the hotel on Friday night and saw or heard something suspicious.

Anyone who has information relevant to the investigation and has not yet spoken to police is urged to come forward.

Information that may assist Strike Force Cumulus detectives can be provided to Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
