The Crisafulli Government is delivering a new 24-unit social housing complex in North Ipswich as part of the plan to ramp up supply across the State.

The new social housing complex will deliver much-needed homes in the Ipswich region and is part of the Crisafulli Government's plan to deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders.

Every single unit will be built to high accessibility standards to support older residents and Queenslanders living with disability.

The complex will also feature an office space area to allow services to be based on-site to support tenants.

The project is being delivered with funding from the Australian Government.

Construction commenced in November 2025 undertaken by Kane Constructions and is expected to be completed by late-2026.

Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann said Ipswich is one of Australia's fastest growing communities, and we need to make sure that the housing supply keeps pace with that growth so that everyone can have the security and dignity of a good quality home.

"By investing significantly into social housing across Queensland, The Albanese Labor Government is not just building homes – we're giving older Australians, people with disability and vulnerable Queenslanders the stability and support they need to rebuild their lives," Mr Blair said.

Visiting the site in North Ipswich, Minister for Housing Sam O'Connor said the Crisafulli Government was ramping up social and affordable housing construction across the Ipswich region and throughout the rest of the State to deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders.

"We now have more than 6,100 social and affordable homes in construction or under contract to be delivered and are on track to deliver 2,000 homes, on average, each year by 2028," Minister O'Connor said.

"That's a massive uplift in housing supply delivery, compared to the annual average over the last decade of 509 social homes and we're proud to be partnering with the Federal Government to do it.

"In Ipswich alone we're delivering more than 270 social and affordable homes on top of 102 social homes we have delivered in the area since we were elected."

Minister O'Connor was also in Ipswich to open a new 43-unit social housing complex in Booval which will be targeted at helping women in need.

Built in partnership with community housing provider CHQL the complex will support eligible people from the social housing register, including current tenants looking to downsize.

Minister O'Connor said the Booval project was a great example of how we are working with community housing providers to get more homes off the ground where they're needed most.

"Partnerships are vital in delivering on our commitment of 53,500 social and community homes by 2044," Minister O'Connor said.

"That's why we've empowered the community housing sector to deliver more homes with record funding and red tape reductions."
