Joly to Welcome Japan's Foreign Minister to Canada

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that she will welcome Yoko Kamikawa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, to Montréal, Québec, from January 12 to 13, 2024.

Canada and Japan have a long history of diplomatic relations based on strong political, economic and cultural ties, and work closely together in a number of bilateral and multilateral forums.

The Ministers will discuss the increasing importance of Canada-Japan collaboration in the areas of regional security and multilateral cooperation in a context of increasing geopolitical tensions. They will also discuss their shared commitment to advance the Women, Peace and Security agenda as well as to increase cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region through the Canada-Japan Action Plan.
