Kearneys Spring: Drug, Weapon, Child Exploitation Bust

Police have charged a 49-year-old man with 69 drug, weapon and child exploitation material offences following a three-day search of a Kearneys Spring property earlier this month.

Between 16 to 18 July, officers from the Toowoomba Protracted Operations Team, Criminal Investigation Branch, Child Protection Investigation Unit, Property Crime Unit , Tactical Crime Squad and the Forensic Search Investigation Team executed a crime scene warrant at a Milton Street property where it is alleged, they discovered a cache of firearms, ammunition, weapons, drugs and drug paraphernalia.

It is alleged during the extensive search officers located multiple items including 14 firearms, a 3D printed gun silencer, 1147 rounds of ammunition, 250 grams of gunpowder,16 grams of methylamphetamine, 50 grams of testosterone, 5 grams of amphetamine, 15 different restricted medications, knives and a taser.

A 49-year-old man has been charged with four counts each of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing relevant substances or things and possessing/acquiring restricted items, three counts of unlawful possession of weapons category M, two counts of Possessing dangerous drugs Schedule 1 drug quantity of or exceeding Schedule 3 but less than schedule 4 and one count each of unlawful possession of weapons 10 or more weapons with at least 5 being category D/E/H/R weapons, possessing dangerous drugs Schedule 2 drug quantity of or exceeding Schedule 3, publishing or possessing instructions for producing dangerous drugs, storage measures and other precautions about access to restricted items, authority required to possess explosives, offence to buy or possess S4 or S8 medicines or hazardous poisons, possess utensils or pipes etc for use, possess utensils or pipes etc that had been used, fail to properly dispose of needle and syringe and possess tainted property.

In addition, the 49-year-old man has been charged with 42 offences relating to Child Exploitation Material following the alleged discovery of two mobile phones.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on September 15.

Darling Downs District Detective Inspector Renee Garske said identifying and apprehending these alleged offenders remains a top priority.

"We will continue to target offenders and do everything we can to keep dangerous weapons and illicit drugs from our streets," Detective Inspector Garske said.

"We also remain steadfast in our ongoing commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community, and we will continue to pursue those who pose a threat to children.

"Anyone who has information to provide in relation to this investigation is urged to come forward directly to us or anonymously to Crimestoppers."
