The delivery of a new six-storey block at Royal Perth Hospital and the new hospital for Mandurah and Peel region has reached a major milestone, with preferred alliance delivery partners having been identified for both projects.

The milestone follows a recent request for proposal process and the announcement of a $1.5 billion building hospitals fund as part of the Cook Government's $4.9 billion health infrastructure program.

Both alliances, comprising architects along with manufacturers and builders, will be tasked with design, development, site investigations, and early works preparation.

Lendlease Construction Pty Limited is the preferred alliance partner for the new Royal Perth Hospital building, while a joint venture between Built Pty Limited and Sacyr Construction Australia Pty Limited is the preferred alliance partner for the new hospital in Mandurah.

Royal Perth Hospital's new, purpose-built six-storey building, of which two floors will be dedicated to the new emergency department, will provide increased ambulance bays and additional clinical service areas to meet operational requirements and emerging healthcare needs.

A new hospital will be built on the existing Peel Health Campus site. The new hospital for Mandurah and the Peel region will provide modern facilities and expanded healthcare services for the growing Peel community.

Project Alliance agreements will be awarded following the Design and Development Stage, with construction of both projects expected to commence in mid-2026.

As stated by Health Infrastructure Minister John Carey:

"As Health Infrastructure Minister, I've been reviewing how to improve and accelerate major hospital projects.

"The alliance contracting model streamlines procurement and ultimately, will support quicker delivery times.

"It's great to see significant milestones reached for these important projects for the Peel community and our inner-city hospital.

"This is part of our historic $4.9 billion health infrastructure program, which also includes the delivery of significant hospital building projects across regional WA."

As stated by Health Minister Meredith Hammat:

"Both projects are key investments in the future of our public health system.

"They will deliver contemporary clinical spaces and expanded ambulance and inpatient capacity to meet the needs of our growing and aging population.

"They support frontline staff, enhance the experience for patients, and ensure Western Australians continue to access the emergency healthcare they need, when they need it."
