Congratulations to Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland, who received the Australian Police Medal (APM) for the King's Birthday 2023 Australian Honours List.
Mr Bland has been a member of the Northern Territory Police Force since 2002 and currently holds the position of Officer in Charge of Strike Force Trident, a vital task force focusing on property-related crime and violent property-related offending in the Greater Darwin Region. As a leader, Mr Bland embraces responsibility and accountability, which has enabled the continued success of Strike Force Trident.
Mr Bland's knowledge of legislation, general orders, and criminology is exceptional, and his professional outlook exemplifies his drive and compassion for assisting victims of crime. He is well-regarded across the Northern Territory Police Force for his loyalty, commitment, mentorship and contribution to policing.
Mr Bland has previously been recognised for his dedication and awarded with an Assistant Commissioner's Letter of Recognition, the Rotary Northern Territory Police Officer of the Year Award in 2013, a Group Commendation and the Commissioner and CEO's Outstanding Leadership Medal in 2020 for his influence on junior Strike Force Trident members.
