King's Birthday Honours List: Bayside

Two outstanding Bayside residents have been recognised for their exceptional contributions to Australia, with Bayside Mayor Edward McDougall congratulating them during a Mayoral Minute at the Council Meeting on Wednesday 24 June.

The 2026 King's Birthday Honours celebrate Australians whose dedication, leadership and service have made a lasting contribution to their professions, industries and communities. This year's honours recognise individuals whose achievements have enriched the nation and inspired others through their commitment to excellence.

Mayor McDougall said Bayside was immensely proud to celebrate the achievements of two local residents who were each appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).

Emeritus Professor Ross Ernest Griffith AM, of Bardwell Park, was recognised for his significant service to tertiary education, the textile industry and the community.

Ms Marika Calfas AM, of Mascot, was honoured for her significant service to the transport and shipping industry, logistics and infrastructure. A respected leader within Australia's freight and logistics sector, Ms Calfas has played an influential role in strengthening one of the nation's most important industries.

Bayside Mayor Edward McDougall said the honours reflected the remarkable talent, leadership and community spirit found across the Bayside local government area.

Mayor McDougall said Council was delighted to formally acknowledge both recipients and thanked them for their extraordinary contributions to Australia and the wider community.

Council extends its warmest congratulations to Emeritus Professor Ross Griffith AM and Marika Calfas AM on this well-deserved national recognition.
