Cardinia Shire Council is breaking ground on the exciting Koo Wee Rup Bowling Club and Community Pavilion project.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Jack Kowarzik turned the sod at the site in Rossiter Road, Koo Wee Rup, with Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale and Westernport Ward Councillor Kaye Cameron.
The Koo Wee Rup Bowling Club and Community Pavilion project is supported and funded by Council, the Victorian Government's Growing Suburbs Fund and the Federal Government's Building Better Regions Fund.
The existing pavilion will be replaced with a new facility that features:
- Two social rooms
- Three community meeting rooms
- Kitchen and bar servery
- Two change room areas and toilet facilities
- Storage area and first aid room
- Office area
Mayor Kowarzik said the new community pavilion would provide users with better access to shared community spaces.
"Once complete, the new facility will better support the Koo Wee Rup Bowling Club as well as other local sporting clubs, schools and community groups in hosting competitions, meetings, social functions, and community events," Mayor Kowarzik said.
Westernport Ward Councillor Kaye Cameron is excited to see works start on the project.
"The new community pavilion will encourage greater participation and social connection for the local community, and will help meet the needs of the community now, and into the future."
